Rafting or Kayaking on the Delaware River
This is a must do experience while staying at any one of the Hilltop properties during the warmer months of the year. Landers River Trips provides everything your group needs for a river adventure and picks you up at the end of your trip.
Only three miles from the Hilltop Properties, the charming hamlet of Narrowsburg is situated along the Delaware River in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. You’re only a short drive from Pete’s Market, two liquor stores, a coffee shop, several restaurants and boutique shopping.
Once a thriving logging town, today the outdoor traditions continue though all seasons of the year. Canoers, kayakers and rafters flock to the area as soon as the season opens to float down the pristine waters of the Delaware, while hikers enjoy a network of trails in the area, including the Tusten Mountain Trail, which offer spectacular views of the the Delaware River. Anglers ply the waters for shad, trout, smallmouth bass and walleye and hunters target whitetail deer, black bear, turkey and other game. Motoring enthusiasts enjoy exploring the Route 97 Scenic Byway, for which Narrowsburg serves as the center point, and the many other wonderfully winding roads that characterize the rural western Sullivan Catskills.
Narrowsburg is also widely known for its strong arts and cultural community. It is the home of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Delaware Valley Opera, the Tusten Theatre, Fort Delaware and the Tusten-Cochecton Library. The town’s Main Street hosts popular street festivals throughout the summer including the long-running art fair Riverfest and the family-friendly Honey Bee Fest, which both draw thousands of visitors. And while retaining its small town vibe, the greater Narrowsburg area has over 75 businesses of all sizes, two volunteer fire departments, a volunteer ambulance corps, three churches and a weekly newspaper.
Beyond Narrowsburg the beautiful, rural setting continues, attracting many second home owners and vacationers from all over the country. At any time one can chance upon a blue heron, a fawn, a bald eagle, mountain laurel, glittering blue water, green fields and towering oaks and evergreens. This is a haven to be experienced – whether for a day trip, a weekend escape or a place to call home – there’s something for everybody to enjoy in Narrowsburg.
